GENERAL STORE

The general store was established in the 18th and 19th century in places where the population was remote, mobility was limited, and a single shop could service the entire community. The general store at the Pioneer Village Historical Museum includes several examples of items you could purchase at general stores; a collection of mail-order catalogs; and a display about Nash-Finch, one such general store that opened a branch in Minot in the 1910s.
